Nice little bolero for ya before i go to bed. But quick run down of whats been goin down. Im at Children's on GI service so its pretty serious. Presentations are no joke with these kids, i have to get my skills up to the point where it doesnt matter who the attending is, i can do a stellar job and knock their pants off. That's one point, next point is that I gotta step my game up on all levels. I gotta find some way to get life and all its responsibilities taken care off and also get school, rotations, and study in general all in check...

next, I have seriously been more and more interested in getting my Spanish better. I have a only Spanish speaking patient mom and I watched my intern do an interview in Spanish. I understood what was going on, which made me proud of myself, now i just gotta get my speaking and grammar going. If i can get this stuff straight i will be making serious moves in the right direction. I have the Spanish grammar book that i work on when im bored/cant study/ random free moments and i feel like if i can get through the whole book by years end I'll be awesome.


Dang, i GOTTA hit the sack, but one more thing lol... Im also in ethics this semester, and though i had some thoughts about it being a bore, i find myself really getting into the subject matter and discussions. Thats always a great thing, it will feel a lot less like drudgery if i actually do find it interesting.. so all in all a good day. I learned a lot, and i know many things that i didnt know yesterday at this same time. So today was a very good day

TIRED...

I'm at childrens national hospital center on my Pediatrics rotation.... and my tail is tired. I guess my chipper attitude is making it a lot easier to operate on 4 hours of sleep a day, but its all good.

I got a lot going on this week. Tomorrow i have a meeting to see if i can this research assistant spot. I really like the topic and the primary investigator is friends with a connect at a residency program i like, so if its meant to be, sera.

I have a lot to say but no strength/time but before i put up some stellar tracks i found over the weekend, i will say that thought people always say it its so friggin true. The simple little things make all the world a difference. I spent Sunday with my aunt and had a great time, we talked for hours and she hooked me up big time with work shoes. I didnt beg or nothing lol. She just said i was on her mind and that she needed to call. I will do better, i have to.

in these days you gotta stick close to family, and you cant take people for granted. Shower the people you love with love and tell people what you really feel.

200th POST

Yo,

200 hundredth post. Thats sayin a lot cause I dont harldy post on this thing enough. I dont know who exactly reads my blog, i think nowadays its more for me than anything else. I guess its some kinda therapy to let out my creative energy [i guess the blog and my thought book {journal sounds gay lol}].

I remember when i started this blog, first year. I put random funny youtube clips up and probly had nothing to say. Sometimes i go back in the archives to see how far i've come. I try not to put too much personal stuff up, no names or anything cause its not like that. this is just an outlet, you know i talk about real stuff and also put up cool things that i see on the street or on the web.

Yeah, so I guess at this point in my journey as i make another transition, I see the vail that covers my future slowly being lifted. Im making big steps towards something, so not to be presumptuous I'll just say that im seeing things that i need to see and starting to be real about this career and dream im chasing.

Sittin in chapel today i heard a pretty amazing quote from Pearl Bailey. I had never heard of her before, but turns out she was a prominent singer/actor in the mid 20th century. I'll do more research on her later, but here are a couple quotes of hers that stick out to me. The first being something i live by.

Its friggin september.... i know, its been september for 11 days, but think about it. 2009 JUST started and look, you turn around and its freakin September. But then again, real talk, it feels like just yesterday the world change. That fateful september morning that changed the world happend 8 years ago today. That day i was in the early throngs of my junior year of high school, i remember it very vividly....

But yeah, time just doesnt slow down, especially if you dont stop to smell the roses every once in a while. I intend on stopping a lot this weekend, since im going to New York for the residency fair at Albert Einstein and spending the rest of the day taking in the city. I dont know where Im being pulled to, future and residency wise, but im keeping my mind open cause who knows whats around the next corner. I could be in the bronx or something or maybe on that international research thing, the options are limitless; and just knowing that i could be doing anythins is what has me trippin so hard.

I'll be ok i know, i know, im just sayin that its something that has been on my mind alot. But thats just me, going into the 8th week of school has me looking back at where i was and how far i've come already. Its pretty amazing how much can change. Thats why now im trying to write more just to keep track of where i've been and how far and fast im going toward my goals.

Life is crazy, i love it for all the ups, downs, quirks and little gems that pop up unexpected.

well i gotta get ready for bed cause im on the first thing headed up to NYC

I recently made some big purchases. I got a leather jacket and a cole haan briefcase. I like both equally and i got good deals on both; but now im kinda in a tough spot.Ya see, I spent a pretty penny on them and i have T-minus 59 days to decide if i wanna actually keep them both or return one and maybe wait on Christmas to recoup the one i return. The other option is of course to keep them both and go on my jolly ol way lol...

btw that Sons of Anarchy may be my guilty pleasure for fall. I kinda followed the first season, but this one looks as if its gonna be REALLY good. The season 1 finale had me shook and this season opening was somethin fierce.

I dont always look for affirmation, as a matter of fact it usually just comes to me outta thin air [though i dont actively seek it, when it comes i recieve it with open arms]. Im glad that I got my rotation schedule the way i did. I wasnt just thrown to the wolves, ive been easing into this clerkship year with the "lighter" clerkships in the first half of the year. While doing this Family Medicine Rotation my love for medicine and people and this profession have all been fortified. Work in the clinic is not really like work at all. Time moves so fast, but in the best way possible, because you are productive and at the end of the day you feel so accomplished. Its one of the greatest things to know for a fact, at such a relativly young age, that at this exact moment in time you are doing exactly what you where made to do ; that you are in the right place and that everything [and everyone for that matter] that you have sacrificed was worth it.

This is living the dream
